Community Forest Therapy Walk

Forest Community Walk with Gregg Berman

Do you ever feel you need to show up a certain way in order to be loved or accepted, to have a connection or be approved of? Have you ever felt it’s not ok to be your full authentic self? What if all of you were welcome? What if you didn’t have to worry about doing it “right”? Together we’ll create a container where you don’t have to hide. You get to experience the richness of both your inner and outer worlds in the community as we calm our nervous systems in the healing embrace of nature.

Our guided mindfulness-based walk will take us from a lookout in Presidio Park with splendid views of San Francisco Bay through stunning Redwood and Eucalyptus forests and across the wetlands of El Polin Springs. Each transition brings new wonders and a deeper connection with ourselves
Each ecosystem is full of life, filled with myriad delightful sights and sounds unique to that locale. You'll be guided through invitations to deepen your experience of nature in unique ways, which may be both playful and introspective. No need to worry about doing it "right," as you can make the invitations your own.

As we drop into the beauty and stillness of the forest, we'll pause as a group to connect deeper through sharing our experiences, both internal and external. We’ll increase our energy flow and state of happiness as we bathe our senses in the style of Shinrin-Yoku.

We combine elements of authentic relating, mindfulness, and somatics to strengthen our connections with each other and the world around us.
From the shares that happen in the circles where we give each other permission to be our full authentic selves to the serenity of connection with the land in new and unique ways.

We'll literally get to drink in the forest. Our walk will end with tasty snacks and delicious tea made from foraged plants (with immune boosting and stomach healing properties) and served in handmade tea cups. A sense of calm and inner peace will be a gift we’ll take with us.

Other things to note:
All activity levels are welcome—no hiking experience is required. Dress in layers in case of cold, fog, or rain. We'll limit electronic use. Bring water, hiking snacks, a mask (all covid precautions are taken), and your sense of awe and wonder. Come feed your soul and experience the joy and relaxation of getting to be your full self.

Contribution
The San Francisco Community Nights events are not commercial events; this is not a business. The events are community service, the intention is to build a community, and the events are the cherry on top.
This is our first outdoor event, so there is no rent to cover. Every facilitator stepping in to lead us through the event will put time and energy into preparing and organizing, and we want to support their efforts. The total ticket price will go to the facilitator of this event.

On Free Tickets. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. I have created five free tickets; please grab one if you need to.
More on Free tickets. I’m offering five free tickets for every event, and I’m doing it with an honor system. Just grab one if you need to, no questions asked. My intention in offering free tickets is to have those events 100% accessible to everybody, especially if you’re struggling financially, like you’ve been laid off, making minimum wage, or being unemployed right now. There is no shame about that; that should never be a barrier to being part of this community.
