How To Get Your Healthy Dose Of Nature, Even If You Have To Remain Indoors.

Right now with so much uncertainty in the world due to coronavirus, more than ever we need a way to destress. Numerous research has shown the myriad healing and stress reducing powers of the natural world. In these unusual times our ability to immerse ourselves fully in this world may be more limited. And that itself speaks to how strong natures medicine is. In fact many studies show that simply viewing nature or even viewing pictures or paintings of nature can lower our stress hormones, improving relaxation and mental clarity, speed recovery after injury or illness, increase our happiness quotient and so much more.

Here are just a few of the many articles that speak to these benefits:

As I’ve been spending far more time indoors than is typical, it’s been important to me to maintain my connections with the natural world. Right outside my window spring is in full evidence in the profusion of color in feather and flower. Spring is in the new blooms, blossoming in my yard.

Spring is in the squawking of the Jays and the chattering of the finches and in the chirping of the fledgling song birds being fed by their parents at the feeders outside my window.

And nature even appears on my walls and ceiling in the nature scenes i’ve recently put up in my home. Each time I look at them I notice how happy they make me. How are you staying connected with natures abundance?
